Charitable Giving

At Estey & Bomberger, we have many traditions, and charitable giving is part of the American tradition we follow. Today it is current national policy to encourage charitable giving in order to sustain the wonderful organizations that seek to serve the good of society. Charitable giving and volunteering is part of our culture at Estey & Bomberger. It is part of how we are able to give back to those in need.

We believe that contributions of money, office equipment products, volunteers, and time to community groups directly correlate with improvements in the San Diego community where our employees live and where we do business. If our assistance of local non-profits makes it easier for organizations that benefit those in need to do their work and accomplish their missions, then our law firm partnership is successful.

We donate all of our old office equipment as well as money to Father Joes Villages®. We believe strongly in their simple mission: to help people in need from all over America turn their lives around and regain independence. Each of Father Joe’s Villages® provides “one-stop shopping” – comprehensive, essential care all under one roof. Programs such as education, job training, child care, medical and dental care and substance abuse counseling enable thousands of families and individuals to discover the confidence and the ability to succeed. Honoring the dignity of every child and adult encourages him or her to invest in his or her own future.

We also support Voices For Children in San Diego. Each month 200 more abused children are removed from their homes in San Diego County and enter the foster care system. There are now over 7,500 children in foster care. Voices for Children, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, endeavors to ensure that abused, neglected and abandoned children who have become dependents of the San Diego County Court will have a safe and permanent home.

We also support the 60 mile Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk and recently spent time setting up tents for the walkers at the November 2009 3-Day Walk event at Crown Point in San Diego. Other charities we currently support or have supported along with our employees are the Red Cross, Bird Rock Elementary, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Challenged Athletes Foundation, Meals on Wheels, the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA, and the Keenan Kids Foundation.

Please feel free to browse the pages below for more details on our charitable efforts.

Organizations for Good: Father Joe’s Villages

Organizations for Good: Father Joe’s Villages According to a study by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development last January just over 600,000 people were homeless in the United States on a single night last January. Further, the National Alliance to End Homeless estimated in 2009 that, due to the recession, from 2009-2011 over 1.5 million people would suffer from homelessness at some point. Organizations like Father Joe’s Villages try to help those without a home get back on their feet.

Organization’s for Good: Distracted Driving Foundation

The Distracted Driving Foundation (DDF) has one goal: find a way to have mobile phone carriers create technology that would block display-intensive applications of cell phones used by drivers, but not of phones used by passengers. Although the concept of a technology based solution to distracted driving is not widely discussed, this non-profit organization argues that a technological solution would not only save time and money for local law enforcement around the country, it would save lives too. We agree. For drivers 15-19 years old involved in fatal car crashes, nearly one quarter were caused by a driver who [...]

Organizations for Good: Tuesday’s Children

It’s been 12 years since the horrific terrorist attacks on the United States which took so many innocent lives far too early. Since that terrible day, individuals and families who lost those closest to them have had to struggle with the reality of why their loved ones were lost. However, out of that pain and grief have sprung so many charitable organizations who have worked tirelessly to ensure that those in pain do not have to travel that road alone.

Today we’d like to take the opportunity to put one of those groups in the spotlight. Tuesday’s Children is a [...]
